Best glue to mend plastic baits

Want to make plastics such as trout magnet stay on jig hook better. Anyone have an opinion on super glue versus Mend-it brand or other? Also might use to mend senko or fluke bait tears for bass.

Don't use gorilla glue. The weight will make it sink waaaay too fast.
Seriously though I've never tried it.

I use the cheap superglue. It works well enough to keep them on the hook until the are worn out

I used to use Loctite Super Glue Gel (<$3.00)

mainly because you can control the flow easier than glue in squeeze tubes, plus it doesn't harden in the container as fast as in squeeze tubes.

The only downside to using glue to hold plastics to the jighead/hook shank is having to cut the jig off when changing color/size, or else destroy the plastics to get it off the jighead. Also, since "glue" will harden, if you just want to mend plastics that get torn, you have to realize that the action of the plastics may be affected ... so a product made specifically for mending plastics may be the better choice in those cases. :twocents

I have used ONE DROP of Loctite. Works ok and is water proof.

Richard Gene wraps the hook shank with dental floss then puts the super glue on that just prior to putting the plastic on.

Many years ago when I bass fished as a teenager. I would use a cigarette lighter to melt torn worms back together. You could melt a torn worm back together until it was very well used. Saved a lot of worms and meant more fishing

Mend-It is made for plastic baits, it doesn't eat into them, doesn't make them stiff, and you don't lose any action.
