Line twist around rod tip--any tips?

I've been getting line twist around the tip of my pole. Single pole jigging; have been using a Lew's Wally Marshall 10 footer, Shimano Sienna (spinning reel), and Sufix Advance (copolymer--fluoro/mono) in 8 lb. test. Sufix Advance is my go-to line for all casting applications and I haven't ever had a problem with it. After a while of fishing, it will start to get kind of "twisty" for lack of a better word and gets easily wrapped around the tip of the pole. Causes me to have to constantly flip the line out to get it to unwind, or else reach up and unwrap.

Any ideas on what might be causing this? The line? Reel? The pole? Line spooled incorrectly on the reel? Any help will be appreciated!

It's likely that the jig is spinning on the way down, imparting twist (or more twist) on each drop & maybe even on each lift/drop .... then when you "jig" the rod tip, the light weight of the jig doesn't take the slack out fast enough and the motion of the rod tip and the loose loop of line is causing the line to wrap the tip. :twocents

Cut everything off the line,,and let the line out in the water while idling or trolling,,,it will get rid of the twists...

Don't know if any here knew Sam Wallace, he fish Toledo. I heard him say don't let your jig spin on the presentation, meaning the fall. It twists my line and I have observed also reduces my bites. If my jig spins at all when I pick it up I tune it right then. The wind really wraps the light braids I use around the tip top.

By tuning your jig, do you mean readjusting the plastic bait on it? Or the alignment of the eye in the knot? Or something else I'm not thinking of?

Yes on "re-adjusting" .... if the plastic body isn't centered or if the plastic body itself is "bent", then it can cause it to spin as it drops (especially on light jigheads). :twocents

This is it. I lift my jig out of the water and let it spin to undo the twist.

Well first off let me say I have "Paws" for hands, can palm a basketball. So when threading my plastic bodies on I miss center more than hit it, even using bifocals. Living with that, crappie fishing, has forced me to learn to look at my bait vertical, hook facing me. Invariably the hook will be off center so I do a combination of bending the hook and twist the body till it runs true. No tuning like a spinner bait, bending the eye or anything, the hook can correct most of my poor aim stabbing a BGBS with a #2 or #4 Sickle hook. Rarely do I twist the body unless it is a Southern Pro Shad Body, theirs are tough enough to take it. BGBS latest formula is so soft unless glued on a few fish and their toast!

Now my TIG weld puddles in aluminum look like the classic "Stacked Dimes" but after 400-500 packs of BGBS emptied by me I still don't hit center. Go Figure?

I hear you...when rigging up Ned rig baits bass fishing, especially the original Zman TRD, I can't get one of those things straight to save my life. Then I watch people on YT who rig it perfectly straight in about 3 seconds.

Try using a loop knot and watch when you are putting the line on. If you are using a spinning reel with a narrow or short mouth spool it will cause the line to twist quicker as well. The more you get hung and pull it off it will cause the line to twist also...
