Tried out this lure for the first time today. It's TINY.

I didn't really have a jig small enough for it so I used the one with the thinnest wire hook, a Shimano Soare drag head. Gills seemed to like it. Crappie too. Pulled in 28 during a short late afternoon session.

Great looking fish your catching. Nice to see so much green showing up down there, we got green grass, that's about it. They are calling for snow here Thursday and temps. down into the low 20s at night. Not what you like to hear.
Probably 4-6 weeks ahead in the spring progression here compared to your location Moonrunner. Lots of flowering trees are already blooming. I had to mow my grass on Saturday. Above normal temps over the weekend though. But gonna drop down later in the week, even going below freezing at night (at least that's the forecast).
Real nice fish you got there! Things are slowly getting better in SE PA, and I’m hoping Moonrunner’s cold snap stays west of the Alleghenies!

Those Nikko baits are nice, but you are right they are small. I have the Waxworms and the Pinworms. If you like that Caddis Fly style check out Lunkerhunts offereing of the Mayfly Bug jar, very similar and available at some Walmart stores. We got flooded out this weekend in TN with up to 8in rain in the surrounding counties. Sigh, another week of waiting.
These are almost too thin. But they caught a ton in recent days.
Saw NRV Outdoors using some of those LunkerHunt bugs to catch trout. Good stuff.
The Lunkerhunt Mayfly in olive is one of the few plastics I use, everything eats it. Only downside is better than half of them the tail isn't straight and curls. Works best on a #10 jig hook.
I hear ya Stan, and it sure is frustrating. My creek was just about good to go after a recent gulley washer, and then we got hit again. It MIGHT, I said might have been good toward the end of the week but we have another cycle coming. Opening day for trout is this Saturday, so I’ll keep an eye out and hope conditions will get a little better. Thanks for the tip on lunkerhunts.Quote:

They can also be used with different weight ball heads jigs from 1/32 - 1/16 oz / hook size #4 unless the lure is shortened - then #6.
