Smith’s Bay
Well if you ever wanted to test your truck, trailer, boat and every nut bolt and washer on them this is the place to go. I don’t have to mention but that road to that lake is BAD ROUGH. Anyway I got a call from a friend and we went this morning before the rain. Started fishing from the boat launch catching probably 5 to 1 keepers and ended up with enough to stink the grease. Then it started to sprinkle so I called it a day about 1030 getting the boat on the trailer before the first good shower. Now that road is long rough and MUDDY. Technical difficulty with my phone posting pictures now but y’all know what a shoepic and a few black crappie look like.Attachment 396589 Attachment 396590

Made my back hurt just reading about the rough road.
Where is Smith’s Bay?

May have to schedule you a chiropractic appointment now! Glad you got out and caught a few.

Is that the road to Grassy Lake? I was there in the early 70s... you can't imagine what the last mile to Smith Bay looked like back then.... LOL. The powerwagons with tractor tires owned it then White Flag Icon

Went to Grassy Lake in 1964. “Landing” was marked with a formerly white rag on a cypress tree just like every other cypress tree around the bank. Took an hour to get the motor started to get back to Landing, then couldn’t find it in the dark!! Got home at 10 pm. Supposed to pick up date at 7! She never would go out with me again. Found a much more understanding woman and married her 50 years ago!

Can you get to Hog Lake now?
-
Yes that’s the road to Grassy Lake WMA, I figured sense they had a few of those high dollar hunting clubs down that way the road would have been in a little bit better shape. Surprisingly once you got to the WMA the road was very good limestone road ending at a cement boat ramp.

Looked it up on a map. Different Grassy Lake! The one I was referring to is near Ruby!
