Central VA Perch run?

I am hopeing to get in on some of the perch fishing on the Chick, Matta and Pumunkey this year. I have not done it before. When should I start fishing for them. Might try to get out a while this weekend, if my wife gets over the flu.

Any info/tips/times/tactics would be greatly accepted.

Don't know about that far up but they are sure spawning in the coastal rivers.
