How shallow can one still operate a Livescope and it still be effective ?
I never have got to see one in use in real shallow water . does one redirect the beam ?
so it looks way out in front of the boat or what ?

I use mine in normal mode a good bit as shallow as 6'. When I'm in more shallow water than that, I switch it to perspective mode, which doesn't give any depth perspective but gives a live view of 120 degrees or so in whatever direction you're pointing it. I just started using perspective mode 6 or 8 fishing trips ago and it take some getting use to.

I use mine while spider rigging in 2.5 FOW in forward view, I also use perspective view sometimes. I mainly use it to watch the depth of my jigs in relation to the bottom. I let them down to where I want them on the scope, then lift them up to look at amount of line out and adjust my other poles to match them.
Curious about this myself. Don’t want to buy or fab a mount to use perspective mode. However, it seems like bottom return gets pretty poor under 6 ft of water.

It’s kinda redneckish, but I made my own Mount using the transom mounting hardware.
