I’ve got a buddy that only long line trolls. But he stops in oct-nov.
He catches fish and covers lots of water. Looses plenty of jigs too.
Just not cup of tea. I do sometimes but I fish by myself 99 percent of the time and push minnows. Livescope single pole jigging now but I’ll still push double minnow rigs at certain time of year.
Chuck.

I voted it as a "great style" even though I don't actually longline troll. But, seeing as how the time period parameters include "early Spring" ... which in some areas of the country means the pre-spawn period, when the fish are on the move & eating up for the rigors of the spawn and are scattered ... longline trolling is both a search method & a catching method that covers lots of water.
I either long line or fish docks all year.
What is the point of such a poll? Fish any way you want to and don't worry what other folks think!
I longline from the time the surface temps get into the 40s until they get into the high 50s then I switch from jig/roadrunners to cranks. I do the same as surface temps warm up in the spring and when they cool down in the fall. I adjust my speed to adjust the depth my jigs need to run. If the fish want a bait running above about 1.2mph ,I'm going to cranks. If I need a presentation slower than about 0.6mph, I'll be spider rigging.
Livescope doesn't figure into any of this and I'll use it at any time.
I just what people's various opinions were. Sorry if I annoyed you.

Your question was very much viable in my opinion!!
Ask what you want and you will usually get great replies.
People shouldn’t respond negative comments. That’s what this sight is all about. Mother always said” if you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all”

I would say it is very effective in the time frame/season you are referencing!

Great technique for both spring and fall when the fish scatter every which way. Cover a lot of ground, if you catch a bunch you can slow down and work an area slower with tightlines.
