Jordan crappie fishing

After nearly a year off of the water due to Covid restrictions and then my fishing partner's heart surgery we got back out this afternoon. Fished all around the 64 bridge and caught just 1 lonely little crappie. We were only using jigs, targeting 25-30 feet of water. Joined the rest of the flotilla for 3 hours and saw a few caught here and there, but several in the parking lot said that it was tough and has been. It was just great to be back on the water giving the boat a little run time. Looking forward to our next outing.

Fish are stacked . 25 ft. To 32ft. In Jordan . on river Turns, unbelievable the amount of fish and no bite. What's up .

I remember several years ago at one of Monk's seminars at the Raleigh Fish Expo, he made the statement that crappie need to eat only once a week when the water is cold. Not sure where he got that statistic, but their metabolism does slow down a lot this time of year.

I've been fishing that area for over 2 months now and it's not been anything like years past We might get one here or there and you think you are going to get on something and you don't. I don't think Farrington point ever really turned on this fall like years past i'm afraid with all the fish taken of these bridge areas and the surge of people fishing because of not working this spring that it has caught up with us.We are fishing other areas of the lake and catching some fish but not the numbers of quality fish as in the past. The fish we've been catching is of of deep (30 ft)or more main lake points but not enough to drive 60 miles one way if my lake was open.I 'm not a liberal i think all of us that have been keeping the fish these last few years will have to rake the blame including myself.

Nice to see that name i've not seen it in a while and I loved and really miss ole Monk but i'm not so sure I would agree with that and the reason in the past years in the winter it didn't matter what day or what week on up into late feb you go to the bridge and catch a limit.I sure miss Monk .I would go to the Raleigh and spend 300.00 with him not needing a thing but he convinced me i did and when he got to Greensboro I would spend another 200.00 or so and really didn't need anything and still have several boxes of stuff l
here and there and still use it

I caught a nice mess of fish last Sunday in the S Curves, They were deep ( didn't get a bite in less than 30"). No huge fish, but I had a couple in the 1.5lb range. Also saw dozen or so boats at Stinkin Creek.

My partner and I do more bass fishing than crappie fishing, so we are not as dialed in as some of the regulars who report here. I know they could outfish us on any given day. We enjoy crappie fishing January into March and have been able to scratch out a few 10-12 keeper days in the past. Yesterday wasn't one of those days. I appreciate the info I get off of this site and try to share what I can. Love being on the lake regardless of the results (although catching fish is the adrenaline that keeps me going back). Here's to hoping we run into a few nice crappie now and then.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything to post about but enjoyed a day on the water today. Several years ago Special K allowed my son and I to tag along with him and he showed me some things I continue to apply and today I benefited from some of his knowledge. In honor of Wayne and all he has done for fishermen I wanted to make a post. Found fish in 30-40 ft of water, caught 47 with some really small fish mixed in, however we did manage to keep 20 11”- 13” fish for my family. When it was perfectly calm we didn’t catch a fish but when the wind blew and gave a little extra movement we had our best luck. Tight lining minnows with double rigs. Only one other boat in the area we were fishing. One thing I noticed none of the fish had bloated bellies and had no trouble swimming off when released. Just thought that was weird when fishing so deep.
