we were down there tues after Christmas water temp in bridge area was 45-46 . There seemed to be more fish in the area but wind and high water prevented fishing on the bridge. There was a few boats around but nt much was happening. We didn't get but 3 keeper fish which were all 11 inches and a few tiny ones. We left that area and went to our other holes and found some feeding fish and managed a total of 27 decent fish but not many at all over 1lb. Something isn't just right down there or at Randleman before it closed.I may be wrong and just not smart enough to catch them anymore but I also think about the number of fish taken out of these 2 lake Last winter at Jordan and last spring at Randleman when no one was working.Randleman is just a 3000 acre lake and can't support 120 plus boats 5 days a week and more Crappie fishermen than I've ever seen down there and last winter at Jordan was just as bad. I really don't know but I will be back next week to try them again

Everyone is saying fishing pressure. I don't know . but think water temps. have alot to do with it. Went to Harris today , nada , going to Jordan Monday

I would agree that something is unusual (more difficult) with the fishing patterns this year, including crappie and largemouth bass fishing... but I've been unable to put my finger on exactly what it is.
Specifically: It doesn't seem to be a problem to see lots of fish on the electronics... but it does seem to be far more difficult to find the more aggressively (biting) feeding schools.
I always catch fish whenever I go... but it seems a whole lot more difficult to find and/or sit on a feeding school of good fish and limit out like you could in years previous.

You guys are probably going to think I am crazy but I catch 95% of my fish and never see any on depth finder, the way I do it is if I catch a fish in a certain depth then that is the depth I fish most of the day in that spot or different spots that I know are around the same depth. Has really worked for me for the most part.

That's normally my "Rule of Thumb" too Nosjunkie... and more times than not (as you say)... it's generally a very reliable way to go. As a tactical approach: When I'm searching for bites, I typically put out an eight rod spread at varying depths and colors until I can get some feedback as to what the fish want. Once I see some repetition or tendency toward a certain depth, color or speed... I'll change or adjust all or some of my rods accordingly to see if I can develop a more definite pattern to the bite. I know one thing: I've got a bad case of cabin fever and can't wait to get back out there very soon.

But I will say I fish minnows 100% of the time when I am tightlining,the only time I fish jigs is long lining.

I am with you on cabin fever. I have two pass times. Fishing and flying RC airplanes. Both let me get a lot of vitamin D but I don't like to do either in the rain or high wind. When the conditions are fair or better and I have a few hours I fish. If I only have a short time I fly. I have fallen short this winter. Should get my boat back this week so maybe the conditions will get better.

27 keeper fish sounds good to me.
How many keepers make a good day?

I agree Roy my grandson and I fished all week after Christmas down at the coast and only caught 1 fish , but i really had a good time spending it on the water with him. Time is precious.
