Winter Bluegill
An older gentleman told me that Dec-Feb is his favorite time to catch bluegill and redear. I've seen pictures and he catches some dandies. I went out this past weekend with nightcrawler and a drop shot rig to try for myself. I found an area similar to the one the gentleman told me to look for and after an hour I finally found them (30ft deep- 50 degree water)....one after another. It was a blast, but we only caught maybe 3 keeper bluegills. (Didn't keep any)
So my question is how do i find the bigger fish? Any tips or you think there just might not be any bigger gills in that one spot?

The two main lakes I fish for Gills, this tends to happen as well, school sizes of same sizes. Don’t know where you will find the bigger ones but when you do I bet most will be similar in size. Keep after them, and when you find the big ones we do like pics :biggrin
