12 foot BGJP

Will a 12 foot BGJP handle a 1/2 oz football jig? I’ll be using 1/8 to 1/2 oz depending on the current. Strictly vertical jigging with no casting.
Thinking about using mine for sauger instead of a medium heavy like I normally use. Still gonna load it with 6# Vicious mono.

I use 1/2 oz drop shot weights vertical fishing with mine almost exclusively. It does just fine.

I use 5/8 oz with no problem
