one thing i don't have for crappie fishing a long rod to try my hand at vert fishing. i currently have an UL shakespeare 5.6 ft micro series, a 6ft B&M speed shooter, and a 7ft daiwa presso light action, i want to try a longer rod this time, looking for some input on a 12' rod that is reasonable to see if i like it before i spend a ton of money on a rod,

My personal experience is that 12' rods are a bit out of balance. I've built rods for 20yrs and my preference is a good 9' rod with microwave or airwave guides(that eliminates the line flap) which allow much longer and accurate casts. Everybody to his own, just me sayin!

ps most video's i watch the fisherman are basically underhand casting, i appreciate your thoughts on max length of 9ft, but would i be better vert jigging as far away from the boat as possible

I have them from 8 ft to 13 ft. Depending on where and how you are fishing. Using 12-13 for live scope but if just sitting over brush pile or stake bed I prefer 10-11 ft. I’m high on 2 rods. 10 Duck commander double touch and 11ft Jenco Hypersense rear seat. Really light and really strong. I also have a Denali 11 ft regular seat that seems to be nice rod just haven’t used it much yet. Only 12 I have used is PST and it’s awful heavy. If looking for 12 ft Southern Crappie, ACC crappie six and Jenco all make nice rods
I like the sam heaton super sensitive 12' with the bottom seat...
i see jenko is offering free shipping till dec 1st, any comments on the 12ft cypress creek rod for 28 bucks, i see it says fiberglass, is it going to be heavy, i am trying to stay under 50 bucks

If you plan on holding them all day, get the jenko hypertense. Light but strong. Cypress creeks are good rods to use in holders.Quote:
