here in the northeast pa the water is dropping, when i have to load my boat at the launch, i have to do what i have been doing all summer. i have to get in the water up to my knees and work the boat on the trailer, then i change to a dry pair of sneakers, now that is cold, maybe someone can suggest some waders that i can use, nothing heavy.
any comments on these

Chet, if you have a trolling motor, on the back, you wouldn't have to do that. Or get a long rope, to use to put on. You could also tilt a motor just a tad, and run on idle to put boat on.

don't have a trolling motor on the back. and the place we fish most has such a shallow ramp. when unloading i have to back up and slam brakes about 3 or 4 times to get the boat off the trailer, or get out and push boat off and i am soaked have to get in the water. my bunks are still above water/

ps i was looking at the trailer a few times to see if i can modify it to get the boat another 6 in lower. no dice and the lake is electric motor only
A pair of cheap hip boot will get it done. example

Might not help in this case but raising your hitch might get the rear of the trailer lower.

Sounds like maybe you have a jon boat, tilt trailer?

Here's another solution. I have sort of the same problem. I cannot get off the boat across the trolling motor area in the bow when retrieving the boat. If you're pulling your boat with a pickup truck, try this- get a 100' rope tied to the bow. Rope doesn't have to be large diameter- mine is 1/4" and does fine. Just need enough strength to pull boat over to dock. When launching, tie the end of the long rope on the hitch. After launching the boat, take the rope and pull your now in the lake boat over to the dock and tie it off. Then move your trailer up to the parking area.
Then, when you get ready to leave. repeat the process in reverse, only get in the bed of the truck holding the rope and PULL! If you cannot get your bunks below the water line, boots or waders may be necessary. Boat will be too hard to try and pull onto the trailer. If you need to get your boat OFF the trailer, try coating your bunks with car wax when dry. The boat should slide off easier. Hope this helps.

Use a silicone spray on your bunks, boar will slid like on glass.

That works too. Just be sure to NOT unhook your winch hook before you get to the bottom of the ramp or your boat may slide off too soon!Quote:
