tips on fihsing small lakes (5km)

I went out today and no luck (caught some shad and missed 2 bass. Painful stuff witht the bass!) and I heard about a spot near me, a small lake that has crappie in it. Checked out the spot on the old interweb and confirmed the talk. Any good tips? It is called Pine Lake in Maryland.

fallen trees along the shoreline near deep water if you are on the bank .
a quill float and a small jig with scent added to it .
set the depth to about 18 inches shallower than the depth of the water at the deepest point the tree is in the water .
if all else fails fan cast a road runner and work it real slow as you walk the bank .
rod tip high to keep it at the right speed and reel slowly
luck to ya

Don’t hesitate to give the shallows a try. If there’s wood on the bottom the crappies will use it at some point.
