Thank you all... I'm a 'tweener' at the border of Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, so those are my main stomping grounds and no lake is off limits. Looking forward to getting back on the Crappie that my grandfather loved so much.
I recently got back into frequent fishing as way to keep in touch with my teenage son and spend more dedicated time with him, and make the time for us to talk freely and without interruptions. He's an awesome kid, Eagle Scout, good at school, and has a heart for helping others. He also has a passion for fishing, and will fish all day if we let him. Unfortunately, my son is delusional and believes only largemouth bass are worthy of pursuit around here, so I'm pushing back for Crappie and Catfish and helping him discover those. My son and I do have a tradition though where we take regular trips up North to toward the Canadian border, every Summer and every Winter, to chase the northern species that we don't have down South. I love the Summers up North, beautiful... but ice fishing is a blast!
We are fishing out of a Tracker 175 Pro Crappie... my first venture back into the boating world in several years. I will say whomever designed the Pro Crappie boat interior was a moron... no storage and so much wasted space. I've built a custom rear casting deck in it, as well as removed the horrible rod-locker and built bass boat style seating. Does great now. I wanted a true bass boat, tin or glass, but for the incredibly low price I paid for the Tracker, I am content. If we keep using it as much as we do, we plan for a newer boat next year.
Be blessed.
