Another humbling trip with Cuonthelake 9/09/20
Well, she didn’t bring me anything sweet and it still didn’t matter. Another 2 to 1 beating is leaving me questioning who is the teacher and who is the student. Grin. But, I did get big fish honors with a 13.25” black crappie, but Candi also caught one that was 13.25”, but mine was 2 ounces heavier, so I claimed the big fish prize.
A very short trip this morning that was a balmy 65 degrees air temp and a very slight NE wind around 1 mph that quickly became around 5 mph although the lying weatherman predicted 1 mph until 10 am. I wore a long sleeve shirt but Candi played tough and only wore a short sleeve shirt and got cold as we were running up and down the lake.
We caught most of our fish on a deep underwater point and the rest under a dock that we tried. The dock try was just before we quit for the morning and hindsight being what it is, we probably should start on docks a little bit sooner.
We both fished with Bobby Garland Slab Slayers in various colors with Lights Out being best until the sun came up. The Ghastly Minnow, Sunset, and maybe one other color produced the fish. I took the keepers home for dinner tonight. My wife Wanda found out that I brought crappie home for the freezer, and she quickly mixed that idea. She wants crappie and crappie is what she will get. I want to fish again in the morning. Lolol.
Current was weak at 13,300 cfs and surface temp was 83.3 degrees. Come on low 60 degree water, you can’t get here too soon. I have had my boat in shop for a week getting a short in the TM wire repaired. It took a new plug and a new plug socket for the boat, plus I had a quick release slide installed and the TM needed new rails and the pivot mechanism repaired. I need to quit hitting the docks so hard in the future. That is why I haven’t been reporting because I have been resting up and getting honey do jobs caught up.
BTW, there was a swarm of willow flies hatching this morning and we could see them for about 20 minutes before they disappeared. You can see them barely just above my cap in the pic that she took of me fishing. She was trying to get the willow flies on the camera.

Excellent report!
I really appreciate the adventures, you two go on.
How long do you plan on letting Candi beat you two to one?
Your just building her up right? LOL
I agree with Snagged, humble pie is being served.
