I'm planing to sink my first bamboo tomorrow. I have four buckets, each with five stalks of bamboo about 12 feet high. My question is should I place all of the buckets together. My initial thoughts are to place them in seperate locations. Any input will be appreciated.........Thanks in advance......

I would place them all together in a circle formation. I do the same thing with plastic trees. One thing I have noticed is the locations with several trees hold more fish than locations with a one or two trees. Hope this helps.
I use 8 - 10 stalks per bucket....
The one in the photo is 15' tall....
I also made some 10' - 12' for water 20' - 25' deep.....
With only 5 stalks per bucket I would sink at least 2 buckets per location...;)
They will be hard to locate with your graph......
But any structure is good.... crappie LOVE brush... end of story....

Can you also use shorter stuff for these also?
I can get plenty of smaller cane. Say 6 or 7 ft tall.

i put some out . i ancored the pontoon down in the back turned the trolling motor on to turn in a circkle . dropped them and marked it on gps . .
i cut mine in half . thw water is onley 20 t0 30 ft. deep .when the lake is lowered 4 to 5 ft. for dock repairs and powerdam repairs i don`t wan`t boats hitting the tops or showing them :D . you can cut the long ones into 3 pices if you wan1t to . depends on the depth . i think crappie suspend around 12 ft. below the serface .

I have used 6-8 ft. river cane. I put around 10 stalks or so per bucket, Just don't crowd them in. I have also used the taller stalks and cut them in half. This lets me have some bushy tops and the bare stalks allow for more open area to make jiggin easier.
I put 3 in a triangle about 15 feet apart. Keep in mind some areas will produce a bunch of fish and some areas will not produce any fish. If you will continue to creat new habitat in different areas of the lake, you can always catch a mess of fish. I usually make the bamboo tops 10 feet tall. I've noticed on the depthfinder in the past most of the ones over 10 feet in 5 galon buckets fell over. They would still produce fish when the fish wanted to be on the bottom but verticle structure will hold fish most of the year.
