I haven't been fishing but.................
.....been busy with regular life stuff. I did hook up to the boat and went to the river yesterday. I know...I know. Labor day weekend. There was no place to park so back home I went. Stopped by mom and dad's and they were feeling well enough to be up and out. So I got them in the truck and spent the day running around the countryside.

Saturday, my wife and I road down to Rudee Inlet to see what was happening. Virginia Beach was busy. Lots of people fishing from the bank of the inlet. Didn't see any fish being caught.

But..............The real reason for this post is below. Today is the first day back for school. Virtual School. My county has 60,000+ kids trying to get connected today. I know the media will be all over the connectivity issues we are going to have today. But, if you have one minute to spare, I invite you to see my daughters' schools morning announcements. you are free to watch minutes 2-5 if you would like a taste of how complex virtual learning is.
Honestly, minute one of this video from the Principal choked me up this morning. And I wanted you to know that it is still there. Our Flag, Our Pledge, "...One Nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All". And followed by a moment of silence that each and everyone can use as they see fit. Pray like your family prays, meditate, talk to your favorite grand-parent, sing, wish..........etc. Your right to choose. This is regular puplic school. Ordinary people choosing to put themselves thru &%!@ for young people. I thank God for them.

I get by on little bits of good. I watch and listen for them. I choose to dwell on them, while fighting the occasional feeling of pending doom. Last week I heard my daughter say something about "Ronik's carpet square". I didn't really hear it so I ask what she was talking about. She said "Ronik's carpet square from last year!". Again I ask what in the world she was talking about.
"Well you see, Ronik (15 year old female) has to tap her foot while she thinks. The tile floor in chemisty class is noisy. Ronik's tapping is easy to hear. She can't help it and we can't help but hear it. So, very early in the year, Mr. Lester brought in a carpet square for her. It was a surprise, he dropped it next to her desk, slid it under and told her "You keep tapping.........I'll keep teaching." Problem solved. No yelling. No embarrasment. No big issue. Just a simple fix with common sense. I have to tell you, that I have been involved in our puplic schools enough to promise you that this is more the norm, then what the media likes to show you. Don't be fooled. GOOD PEOPLE are still busy doing GOOD things. Watch for it. Listen. Take it to Heart. Keep the Faith. But carry an umbrella and rubber boots for the other stuff that is so popular.
I don't have facebook, so you guys are my outlet. Hope you have a good week. I can't concentrate on work, I'm getting constant texts from my daughter that she can't get in to school video class. Always work to be done. We will get thru this.
