Cast Iron Repair
I have a Bayou Classic cast iron pot for a fish fryer that came with a BB size hole in it. The company sent me a new pot and told me to keep the damaged one. It has been sitting in my garage for years. Crappiejoe12 just gave me his fryer stand so now I have two stands and one good pot. Can that hole be repaired to where I can use the pot? I'm thinking my normal JB Weld repairs won't work for that........

I'm an active member of multiple cast iron cooking forums/groups and this question comes up very frequently. The answer is both yes and no. Yes, cast iron can be welded. HOWEVER, doing so requires both special rods and some serious welding skills. Basically, you have to pre-heat the entire area to be welded first, then you apply the weld, then allow it to cool slowly enough that it doesn't go into thermal shock and crack. Therefore, welding up a cast iron pot becomes prohibitively expensive unless you just happen to be a welder and can do it yourself (or, you are good buddies enough with a skilled welder that will do it for beer).

Preheat and mig it up.
I've done plenty of exhaust manifolds that way.
It'll be good enough for your need

JBWeld is NOT something you want in a cooking vessel or your food.

Aw come on now Mike we have all had a little worse than JB Weld. LOL

tap and die, put small stainless steel screw in the hole, file off any thing that sticks out.

Yes it can. If it were a stressed area, it would require cast rod. You can MIG it, but you might want to weld it, grind it searching for pits, grind them out and weld again. I like to TIG cast parts, it allows the cast poors to open and close, allowing for a sound weld. MIG it... you'll be good! Braze might work as long as you have Hi Temp brazing rod and it exceeds any temps you plan on.
