Reelfoot Fall Information? Help Wanted!

I’m in the works of planning a fall trip to Reelfoot Lake in mid to late October. Will be targeting some slabs of course. Looking to gather any and all information I can.? Narrowed options down to staying at blue bank, cypress point, or boyettes. Will be bringing my own boat, rather use my own crap. Planning on staying 4-5 days. Tips on fishing, lures, baits, scents, techniques, safety navigating lakes, things to avoid, weather safety, restaurants, absolutely anything anyone is willing to share will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!


PS: not much interest in spider rigging. Not objected to multi poles hanging over the side though, drifting style per say. If that makes sense?

Ok, Bluebank is a good place to stay. Boyettes Dining Room the food is very good. My fishing experiances there was spider rigging and long lining in Blue Basin.

Not set up to spider rig. At this time not sure if I’m really interested in it. I know it catches fish and I’m not one to hate on it. Just don’t think it’d be my thing. Like having my pole in my hand. Sounds wrong, but it’s the facts. Haha Appreciate your input! I’ve read and heard good and bad about all the places I mentioned. Mostly it’s about persons preference though. Just trying to gather information from others experiences.

I fish douglas mostly, but pulling cranks has never let me down. I ve learned more about casting for crappie from drumkings posts than 30+ yrs of trying. Check him out.

I have stayed at cypress point & would recommend it. Things to avoid if your taking your own boat is the stumps. As it is full of them. I recommend wherever you stay you rent there junk boat & motors. You will definitely hit something. Me personally can't give you much on the fishing side I have never done good there. That's why I have not been back in years. Water gets real rough when wind blows & you will not want to be out there it gets dangerous.

October is normally the time of year the lake is at its lowest so do be mindful of the stumps. Do not break idle is the rule for a newbie on Reelfoot. Spider Rigging produces fish. I understand you are not set up to do so. Be mindful of the weather as the lake does get rough in winds blowing 15 or more. You are welcome to pm me questions if you like.

October can be a good time at Reelfoot. As has been said, there will be a lot of exposed stumps and trees...and a lot that are not exposed. Spiderrigging can be effective, but jigging or minnow fishing exposed stumps and logs can be highly effective. Years back, I fished Reelfoot at least once a week. There used to be a couple of guys who came from Missouri who simply anchored their boat and cast out three rods each with slip corks and minnows. They would fish all away around in an area, then move to a new spot. They caught as many fish as anyone I know. So whatever works, give it a try. Hope you enjoy your trip. Just remember, take it slow.

I have never been to Reelfoot lake as it is on the other side of the state for me, but the stumps are enough to keep me from coming. If I ever do make it to Reelfoot, it will be in pursuit of Bluegills and Shellcrackers. Lots of really good crappie lakes really close to me in East Tennessee.

I just started fishing Reelfoot myself. It's not if you hit a stump, it is when and how many. Be mindful of that if you have a glass boat.
