What method(s) are you intending on using it with ??
For casting I've used PowerPro 10/2 hi-viz ... (10# test strength @ 2# test mono diameter) ... purchased at local store (Walmart or Sportsmans Whse, don't remember)
For my line counter reels ... some have 30# test braid (dark green) (=10# test mono diameter, I think), but I don't know the brand because the line was already on the reels when I bought them (used) from a buddy.
Whatever size braid you use .... have a pair of Fiskar Scissors to cut it with, and a object to wrap it around to pull snagged lures free with. The scissors will cut the braid clean/blunt & not leave a frayed tag end (making the limp braid easier to poke thru the small eyelets of jigs, clips, swivels, or whatever). The object (piece of wood dowel, mop/broom handle, etc.) to wrap it around will keep you from cutting your fingers/hand, or foam/cork rod handle. (words of wisdom from personal experience of trying to pull a lure free with the PowerPro 10/2 wrapped around my fingers )
KastKing is as good as the others and much cheaper. I use 12 lb to pull jigs and 25 lb on my crankbait rods.
Tried a couple different 4x braids including the cheap Kastking line. Switched over to diawa 8x j-braids, huge difference!!!
8# on the ul's and 15# on everything else.
do NOT go into the light rotfl
As has been said, it depends on what kind of fishing you do and where you do it. Up here in the northeast, we don't usually fish heavy brush or cribs, so we (Walt & I) tend to go on the light side. We're using 2# test Fireline Crystal for the mainline, on 6' - 9' B n' M rods. We do use a light fluorocarbon leaders for it's abrasion resistance qualities. To reiterate, we are fishing mainly open, clear water conditions, for suspended crappie & bluegill. I get my Fireline from Amazon.com.
4# solar fireline with fluorocarbon leader for gills and with no leader for crappie. Last 25 years and still today.

i saw braid ACTUALLY lift a brush pile off the bottom yesterday on livescope and SCARE EVERY single fish off it like cock roaches when the lights come on .....NOT kidding , looked like a bomb went off when they left and POOF they was gone :Rofl
food for thought
Kastking 8# test. Sometimes I attach a 4# test leader for float & micro baits.
