Hi folks, first post here... Hope everyone is staying safe and catching fish!
My questions is about pulling crankbaits in summertime. I am going to attempt next week trolling some arkie 350 crankbaits for crappie. What kind of rods are you folks using for this fishing method? I have B'n'M trolling rods (14ft) that i use for spider rigging in early spring, but am a bit uneducated for trolling. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Cheers! hvychev

Welcome. Trolling cranks is about all I do in the summer in N.C. I started out with my same setup for pulling jigs. 14 then 12 foot bmjps then regular 7 foot spinning rods and finally 4 foot ultra lite rods. Tried running 8. I lost a lot of lures on that 6 lb line. Also stayed tangled every time I made a turn. I caught this Garcia black max baitcasters on sale at walmart and bought 5. I put 20 braid on them and they work perfect. Two straight out the sides, two at about 45 degree angle and one down the middle. I never break my braid and no longer loose cranks. Also handy when a big cat hits them and they will. I pull mostly bandits about 1.6 to 1.7 mph. Always have at least one chrome, one chartreuse, and one orange on. The bass pro cranks that they sell for $1.88 also work great and you can buy three of those for one bandit. Good luck but be prepared. If you get hook it can get expensive. I probably have at least 150 cranks. Good luck
It's easy to get addicted to pulling crankbaits. Don't forget to take a plug knocker if you'll be fishing near cover. Good luck & have fun!

Stretch them out different lengths to also help with this. Also gives different depths doing this. I also agree to check back in. You help teach others and we like to see how you’re doing. Maybe help in the fine tuning. Also, solid black and a Bill Norman in chartreuse with a glitter purple back we’re ALWAYS in my spread.
