This "chalky" growth began early spring on fairly new Ultrex skeg and is getting worse. Coating isn't scratched or chipped. Notice a few other spots on boat painted aluminum hull too but not as severe. I can scratch most of it off with fingernail. Boat is in fresh water lakes 3 days week maybe. Anode on Yamaha outboard is pitted but intact. What's causing this growth? Attachment 380268

Electrolysis, you have a bad ground somewhere in your system. It is seeking ground through trolling motor and parts of hull to water. If you don’t find problem and get repaired it will eventually eat holes in hull and eat up trolling motor.
I checked and cleaned all terminals this spring . I'll get out test meter tomorrow and take another look.

Check your motor. Some have a ground lead from power head to lower unit that can break.Quote:
