Anyone fishing them for crappie and other panfish? I've been checking them out and wonder if anyone has any input on them, good or bad. Price point similar to the St. Croix panfish series,(of which I have one and like it very much) and near 2x the price of the BnM TCB rod, which I just bought one of but haven't gotten out with yet.
It appears they have quite the lineup of heavier rods but I'm not interested in those for my fishing.

Yea, I've watched that twice and it has me interested. I'm hoping some on here have used them and have some experience with them. I've been reading the panfish board and the JDM threads but I'm not willing to get in to that area at this time.
Give that TCB a good workout. It is very similar to the TSS which I have, and it is a fun rod to fish and a great value. I haven’t had the opportunity to fish a Cashion.Quote:

I scraped together some spare pennies and purchased one of these CRT rods. I've had it out for 2 trips and have hooked and landed maybe 10 fish on it, all crappie and bluegill. I haven't done much casting and retrieving with it; it has been one of my trolling poles leaning out the back of the boat so I don't have a good feel for the sensitivity aspect of it yet.
1st thing I'll say is while it might be rated an UL in the bass fishing world, in my opinion it is NOT an ultralight in our pan fishing world. I would call it a light action rod, and even that is giving it the benefit of the doubt. It might be even a tiny bit stiffer than that but certainly not a medium action. The closest comparison I can give to the equipment I own is it's very comparable to the BPS Micro Light graphite 6'6" I bought earlier this spring in a light action. It is not as flexible as the B'n'M TCB I get a while back; the TCB is a much more lively rod, especially in the tip, say the first 15" of the rod. I like the location of the reel seat as far as distance up from the butt. It is about 1 1/4" closer to the butt than the TCB; I don't get the butt slapping me on the forearm like I do with the TCB on the cast so that's a plus for the CRT. The location of the reel seat and the length of the butt is what I dislike most about the TCB.
It seems to be a well made rod, but I'm hardly experienced in picking out finesse details in different rods. "Good enough to do the job" works for me in most aspects of my life. One of the guides is very slightly out of line with the others,(probably within tolerance) according to my eye but not enough to warrant a complaint. My TCB has guides that aren't as well lined up as this rod. No obvious defects other than the hook keeper is so parallel to the rod that I can't get my quick-snap in to it; I'll have to carefully bend it up to be more perpendicular to the rod so I can hook it in.
Overall, I'm pleased with the rod but most likely, if I wanted another general market ultralight rod for panfish, (considering the JDM market in the bream section quite specialized) I'd choose something different. This rod will see lots of use as a troller for sure. I feel sure it will handle any bass or larger fish I'll have to deal with quite well. It has the subtle strength and backbone to do that; it loads up well down to the thicker section.
I do like buying American Made but was hoping it would have a lighter action. If you're looking for a rod that makes a 7" bluegill seem like a 4lb. bass, this is not that rod.
