A question for those...
... In the know, or just have an opinion...:biggrin
When a shemale crappie fish that has spawned out, meaning no more than a few eggs left. At what point does she start producing eggs for next "years??" spawn? Reason why I ask is because some fish I am ketchin now have egg sacks that are very small. Did these fish spawn back in February, which some do, or did they not spawn at all? I live in central west Texas, weather can be cold,or hot, windy, or calm, all in the same day...:banghead Inquiring minds would like an edjumacayted guesstimate...:cheers2:pray
And I hope I am not...:deadhorse

I usually start seeing next year's egg sacs in late Summer/early Fall around here.
I would think any egg sacs left in your fish would be discolored if they were leftovers, but yellow if they were new sacs developing.

my bud found some hogs in east Texas last week like that and we wondered the same thing .
my vote is left over from the main spawn ,maybe that part of the roe wasn't quite ready when they danced ?
not sure ,but have seen it a time or 3 myself
might still make , I never am totally sure myself .
the state biologist told me a while back he had doubts they would not lay ALL the eggs they carry
one thing for certain I am certain of ….many a I know for sure folks DONT …..rotfl
