My friend said bluegill, I first I said crappie but mouth is too small and tail is too long to be crappie. What do you think?

Male redear. Female redear will have a yellow breast.
The spot on the gill plate is a dead giveaway that it is some sort of sunfish.
A gravelly fish, pretty common along roads.
