Was at a local retailer today and picked up a new UL rod. Was looking at reels and came across the Diawa Revros 1000. Holy S*@t what a nice reel for an MSRP of $49.00. I started to buy it but wanted to do a little research. I was looking at a Ballistic but not sure I need to spend that much anymore based on the look of the Revros. Any owners of this reel outthere with a review.
I have 2 (Revros LT 1000D) and they are OK reels, but I like the Regal LT better (10 bearings) at nearly the same price point. I did put Hedgehog kits (1 line roller bearing only) in them.

Not sure why the Regal LT does not get much attention. I cannot afford a Luvias on all my rods, so they are only on my 3 JDM rods. JDM rods get JDM reels, says I. For my considerable collection of USDM rods, which I also still use, I need a good reel. The Regal LT keeps me spoiled for ordinary reels. Not sure why it is not sold in Japan - maybe they are, under another name - but, a 10 bearing Daiwa for around $55 on Ebay? I'll take them, thank you!
AFAIK the Revros kit also fits the Regal - but I have not tried yet.
Was looking around awhile back myself, wanted a longer ul setup that I could beat & bang on (ride around in the truck/jeep/bank fish/kayak). Used a 5 1/2" ul for years and it was getting worn out.
I kicked the tires on the revros but ended up buying a diawa regal rglt2000d on e-bay for $46.xx + tax shipped.
So far the regal has been impressive catching +/- 200 fish since the beginning of april using 1/64, 1/32, 1/16oz jigs with trout magnets and tubes. Caught anything from 4" perch to 16" largemouth bass with it so far using a plain 4# mono. Excellent casting, extremely smooth and an impressive drag.
The only real downside I've found so far with this reel is it's showing just how bad my other reels are. Been doing a lot of cleaning,oiling and I've started reading up on the 2500/3000 regal reels. I'll be buying 1 of those in the next week or 2.
Well Im making a trip up to BP on Wed and plan on looking at what's available in the Diawa line. Will definitely check out the Regal for sure.
If you can find Legalis LT under 50, I would go for that. Legalis is a little higher spec than both mentioned and the weight save 6.3oz and air bail is really worth it.
Legalis reels are well worth looking into. Perhaps it's just me but my undertsanding of the legalis's were that they have an abs spool compared to the standard regal spool (both hold the same line capacity with(1000 vs 1000 models). But the trade-off was a common 5 bb setup in the legalis vs 10bb in the regal.
I found it odd that the legalis offers an "oversized" spool that quote:
"The spool design featuresthe Advanced Ballistic System or ABS. This technology utilizes a reversed taperto pay out line in bigger loops reducing outgoing friction and improvingcasting distance. The oversize spool also holds more line and can exert morepressure on hooked gamefish"
But both the legalis and the regal (1000's) both hold the same amount of line.
Anyway that's why I chose the regal 2000 lt. It utilizes the light weight body of the regal 1000 lt (6.7oz) and has a 37% larger spool that the legalis or regal 1000 that holding 6#/160 while the regal 2000lt hold 6#/220.
The regal 2000 lt can say the same bigger loop, more pressure thing the legalis is boasting in a small package with a better bb system.
Anyway excellent choices out there and it's good to look, read, study, hands on and ask. To me that regal 2000 lt delivered to the door for under $50 was well worth it.
Looks like a nice reel. I have several Legalis 1000s and been happy with them. Got them all on sale for around $55.
How much pressure will the reel see or need to impose pulling in a Bluegill? :biggrin
