I am guessing a bad transom by the looks of the agte of the boat.
I always wear one when early spring Walleye fishing on the river figure it just makes it easier for someone to find my body. When water temps are only in the 30`s a person does not last long. Summer when the big motor is running I will slip one on as I get older I find I can not swim, as long as I used to.
They are saying the jack plate broke. I’ll be avoiding Pickwick for some time more. Bad karma going on now.

I always wear one, get a good one, you don’t even know you have it on.
I wear it because if I hit my head on the fall I won’t be swimming.
I can swim a long ways, but not while unconscious.

I suspect bad transom, or jack plate. If the motor had been running, it could have been in the boat with them. These guys are lucky!
