I fish it from time to time. I usually fish buck Creek when it's open. I've only tried the corps piles once. Didn't have any luck. I did catch a couple on the nearby standing timber though. (that was last summer)
I fish from a kayak, so buck Creek is less turbulent from the bass boats flying by. I'd love to hear a report from your trip!

I don't fish COE piles on Joe Pool as most of them only have a foot or two of brush remaining. On Joe Pool it is not that hard to find brush piles to fish using your fish finder.
rippyro, I know what you mean about the problems with turbulence caused by inconsiderate boaters. I really feel for you who choose to fish from kayaks or small jon boats.
But all fishermen are impacted by this turbulence, regardless of the type of boat you fish with. I fish a pontoon and still had to grab my seat a couple of times today from the waves generated by IAH passing too close while on plane.
No doubt about that lol the biggest difference is the fact that I have nowhere to fall but in the water haha buck Creek is just nice because of all the submerged stumps and standing timber. There's a few who are either ballsy or knowledgeable that fly through there but it's rare. Nice area to fish. For everyone that is.

True but you don't have as far to fall before you hit the water. :Rofl
Was talking to a guy last week who said he was fighting a fish when large waves from a passing boat caused him to lose his balance and dumped him into the water. Said he was lucky he was fishing with a partner as the cold and heavy clothes made it hard to get back into his boat. He held on to the boat while his partner pulled him back in.
Makes me glad I fish from a pontoon nowdays.
I think the tpw website has the corp pile cords …..I hear they are not accurate though by 50 to 100 yards
that said I hear they typically hold lots of small fish ….my 3 cents
