I'm not sure we have increased pressure. The harvest here has been very good to me this year. But I been taken lessons on catching and tossing out everything I knew about fishin.
I should add that it looked like a Saturday here yesterday. The weather was perfect, today it's cool, crazy windy, and very few people.
Was out on Greer’s Ferry Wednesday, Hill creek launch. Must of been 20 to 30 vehicles there. Kept our distance but there seemed to be boats everywhere. USA FLAG
Lots of folks fishing . This livescope sure putting pressure on big Crappie . Smaller lakes getting hammered. I release mine some days but many are not . My catch has went up and definitely the average size has since I got livescope figured out .:twocents
may make it harder on the fish population but like seeing more kids out fishing enjoying the simple things and not hung up on video games or bad habits:twocentsQuote:

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that the large crappie population will be affected because of livescope, I've caught large crappie consistently in the past on my primary lake. But with livescope I've caught even more and bigger crappie, so has many other people I know. I've enjoyed it but I'm concerned about the long term effects.Quote:

Almost everyone I talk to is keeping fish. I can't bring myself to do it yet. The females I'm catching aren't spawned out.
I would like to think that if I carefully handle a big crappie, weigh it, then release it immediately it would survive to be a 3 lber one day. But I think that their survivability after being in a crowded livewell is not very good. Even for a couple hours. If we have a single or double limit why in the world would you want to keep and kill a truly trophy sized crappie. With camera phones and tournament scales to total weights for the day what's the reason to keep them. Yes, it makes for a nice pic at the end of the day and bragging rights but at what expense to our crappie fisheries.
I still have no problem with anyone that keeps them all. I keep a lot of the 2 lbers we catch. I would just like to see more of the 2 1/2 to 3 lbers photographed, weighed, and immediately released.
I'll admit I don't always release them. But I have a deep respect for the pro anglers I follow that weigh and release immediately. This, in my opinion, is when a great crappie fisherman makes the transition to a pro crappie fishermen.
Adverse effects. So many people are fishing the lights. Most cabin owners have cut off There lights because of noise keeping them awake. The brush piles are getting hammered with livescope. Our lakes health is being affected to day the least. We have 1/10 of the lights left on from earlier in the year.
