I have a friend who has had some success with striped bass and catfish using a fish thumper. Apparently this imitates the sounds made by a school of fish feeding and triggers a bite. Has anyone had success with crappie using a thumper?

I am guessing like the hydro- wave like the bass folks have . Interesting , please post if you see one in use .
been on a boat with one before , didn't seem to make any difference on crappie to me .
have heard the striped ones like it though
Look up Skunked Again on YouTube. Buddy of mine Tim Pham has videos and how to make them, etc. He is an expert on drumming up white bass and stripers. Trying to tune it for crappie with limited success. He has the VIRUS and is home trying to get over it. Works for an international IT firm. He is young and strong and we all hope he pulls through soon.

I watched a youtube video where one was being used. Don't know about the fish but the sound certainly irritated me. Don't see how anybody could stand having one in a boat. But then I'm an old grouch who doesn't even like loud music from other boats disturbing me when I'm fishing. :Rofl
maybe I should clarify , I been on a boat with a hydrowave and it for sure didn't seem to make any difference .
but I got a pro striper guide buddy who has a big ole broken deep sea rod he BEATS the fire out of the water with and it sure enough seems to make them big dumb striped fish bite well :Rofl
