Someone Has Poisoned The Tugaloo Arm Of Hartwell!

Or at least you would think so. The water temp is 64-65, air temp tomorrow is forecasted to be about 85. But the Crappie disappeared about last November. We have had a very rainy Winter and the water is well above “full pool.” We have fished brush piles from about 8 feet down to 30 feet and more. We have fished the banks. We have long lined. My buddy knows a LOT of places where he has caught a LOT of Crappie in the past. He has fished the lake for over 10 years. Are there any members here who fish the Tugaloo arm? What has been your experience? What about Crappie fishing on other parts of the lake? Does anyone have any suggestions for us?

GF I hope some of the members can give you some good information that will put you looking in the right places. They say crappie fishing is easy but us fisherman knows how hard it can be at times. Good luck

I am truly in the same boat, except I have no experience on this lake - just moved to the area last November. I fished probably five times this spring, and the most I have caught with just me in the boat is two fish. I also have listened to the advise of others, and have shot docks, used minnows, no minnows, jigs, jigs with minnows, jigs with slab sauce, longlined, pulled, different colors, etc. I know it's only a matter of time before I find them, but I sure would take some advice. I'm living around exit 14, so I've been fishing the Seneca river area, mostly North of 85. Anyone want to offer what is working for them on Hartwell? Appreciate any advice!

Try finding docks with brush around them and use minnows or tightline jigs. Shooting docks is also very good as well. Just have to find docks that have fish on them. A good side image unit will let you know if there are fish.

I agree i have only fished the tugaloo are for 8 years and this is the worst i have ever seen it, also my buddy down the street who has fished it for over 40 years agrees.

It was tough fishing this past weekend with the cold front moving in. I managed 17 crappie fri thru sun. All shooting docks.
