Nothing Went Right

I was packed and ready to go to Santee this weekend. Left work on Friday and the check engine light comes on in the car. Bad Gas. So after canceling the trip I decided to go to Wylie Saturday morning.
Woke up, no power from the main battery! Found the positive lead going to the switch had pulled completely out. Simple fix. Boat was in the water around 8:00.
Had a good day pulling jigs. Caught around 20 and left them biting bc of pleasure boaters. Kept 10 over 10". Biggest fish were in 25 FOW and were glued to the bottom.
Got back to the ramp where there were several #boatrampchamps trying to load and unload. The stupidity of people who own $40,000 boats will always amaze me.
Got home to clean fish and the switch went bad in the fillet knife.

Congrats on a nice catch of fish despite the problems. Just curious, how were you able to get jigs down to fish on the bottom in 25 fow pulling jigs? What weight, speed, etc.?

With regards to what we refer to as the b*******s on the $40,000+ boats, I saw several this past Saturday. One, I was on my dock and there were two boats further back in the cove fishing. One a small aluminum boat like a Tracker and a pontoon boat that were not much more than 100 ft apart. Here comes a b******* running at high speed just a few feet off my dock that continues right between the two boats, slows down enough to make a bat turn, and then comes ripping right back out and out of the cove. When those guys get fishing in tournaments on Saturdays they think they own the lake.

Definitely worth it.
In regards to getting the jigs down. I slowed from .9-1.0 down to .4 on one of the passes. Eventually, I had to toss a marker and tightlined over them. After doing that, I caught two more and they left.

Brother have I had days like that!! It was encouraging to hear that you did exactly what I've always done: Endeavor to persevere.
Way to work through the setbacks and still come away with a nice mess of eaters.
Maybe your spurts of bad luck will trim out for a while. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like some of my trips. Me and the brother went several years ago and got the boat backed up in the water. Gave it a big push. I looked at him and said do you have the rope and he said nope, thought you had it as we watched the boat float away. We still laugh at that. Guy a few hundred feet away yelled, guess you want me to bring that back to you. lol.

Good catch and heck of a lot of misfortune. Glad it all came together for you. Guess you got to get a check list for everything you do and everything you got. :highfive
