I think it is a ring perch, but we have never had them in our pond before! Is this good? I know bream, bass, crappie, catfish, but fish ID is not my strong point.

yellow perch, good tasting fish.
They need to grow up some! Thanks.
Raccoon perch is another name for them. They come into the rivers big time around here in Feb to spawn. Lots of fun to catch and very good eating.
Very good eating! I used to throw them back until I read about them and tried one. They don't get real big, so if you think it's big enough to eat, try one sometime.
Here is a link to info about the Yellow (Ring) Perch. They can get pretty good size. They are highly sought after up here in Michigan. We have charter boats on the big lakes that target them specifically.

you can also get perch from any full serve grocery store to try. I used to live at Lake Erie and as a kid we fished for perch all the time GOOD EATING.
Be careful of wikipedia.org Their info is not always right. Colleges are not allowing students to use wikipedia as sources for their work b/c of this. Wikioedia lets anyone (registered users) add or delete info. I watched it first hand. I am no6t saying the info on the perch is wrong but letting everyone know its not a reliable source for info.
here is a nice yellow perch I got in march.

Go to landbigfish.com thay have a good fish I.D.er and you can read up on all type's of fish.
Thanks guys! I've caught them in the river, and yes eaten them too, just never got around to finding out what I was catching and eating. And HOW did they get in my (well I've lived here longer than anybody else) pond???
It did not fight at all, the bream were way fiestier. Our house is on the market and I am not allowed to clean fish if it is being shown in the next 24 hours.
I am looking at a lot on Lake Shawnee in Powhatan, anybody know anything about it? I hear rumors.....
