Lock....jaw!
I got out today to do a little bit of bass fishin' / Crappie fishin', etc. Caught a bass on a spinner about 930 this mornin... slowed down a lot....... After lunch, decided to spider rig with the new driftmaster T-bar. Worked great. caught 1 dink crappie in the deepest part of the lake here at the house. That was around 2 pm. Didn't boat or get another fish. Don't understand it? Couldn't even get the bream to bite. As usual........ stumped again.

Hey Randy, I didn't do much today either. My brother-in-law and I went to M. Point today, we ended up with 4 keeper crappie and 3 channel cats a one good bream. Very slow for us on crappie, they were catching catfish like crazy at the dam at M.P. using worms and crickets, but we were throwing roadrunners and caught 3 on them. The river had been in there this week but was out today, lake looked good but I couldn't get them to bite.

I quit fishing for crappie on Nimrod for a little while and started bream fishing Ola Lake. It's about 8 miles from the house and it's where the state record crappie was reportedly caught...4lb.9oz.
We got about 40 nice sized bream and picked up a few crappie trolling Bandits across the lake.

Why give up on Nimrod David? I fished Thursday and caught a good mess in 6 to 8' water. That means normal levels ,the tops need to be 3 to 5' of water.
I have the stake bed material for now stop by. We can build some quickly and get them out.
I was wondering about the bream at Oladale. My chicken farmer fishing buddy who likes bream fishing said the bream where slow at Oladale. He said at Cedar-Piney they killed the bream with 1/2 being redears.:D

Was the same for me on Reelfoot this last Friday. I went to my spot where I had been catching them three hours later I had two one pound fish. It was raining and somewhat cool. By noon I had a mix of gills and crappie that totaled 19 by 1:30. The bluegill I caught were good size, the largest one was 1 pound. I got up the following morning, bought some crickets and waxworms and caught 40 something gills and kept 31. They have some pretty good gills on this lake, first time for me to fish for them here.
Now for the next few weekends I need to do some house work. I have a bunch of PVC and I'm going to make some attractors. I'll post pictures of them in here to see what yall think...if you don't mind. It's going to be tough reading about yall fishing and me comfortably nestled next to my wife early in the mornings...;)

Hey Randy, how are the other oxbows doing around there?
Also, be sure to try some drifting on the deeper part of the lake. The kicker is to look the fish to be suspended as high in the water column as 1' deep over that deeper water. It never hurts to check and see if they are holding in that pattern. Are you seeing them on the depthfinder?
-
Ceb , the Crappie on Nimrod are known to suspend over deeper water. We have flats and years ago before I quit trolling caught lots of slabs trolling 18'' deep in hot weather. We still find them suspended over the brushpiles at times jig fishing .:D Hope we can get a bunch to fish Nimrod next month.:)

Chris,
I actually did just that yesterday. I finally was able to pull off a fish trolling!! My pole holders worked great. the only down side was it was a dink! I did see some gar coming up to the top. They're spawning. Saw a couple of them swimming together. I also saw a catfish spawning in a hollow log.
As far as the other lakes, I haven't heard a good report recently. I think some folks are catching bass & bream consistently, but man they were tight lipped yesterday.

I went out to Lake Calion Saturday morning for a bit. Spidering jigs and never ran across an interested crappie. Had a couple of bream hits, but that was it. I can't wait till oct-nov
