Hey guys,
I got my personal best crappie on JDM gear today. It was 2.03 lbs and 15 inches. I would like to say thank to all you guys for the info posted here. I used a 63 ultralight fantail by major craft, ballistic 1000 fw, and Master Limited Super Ester 2.3. All I kept thinking was please don’t let the line break. It was an awesome fight. Drag pulling. That’s a fine fish! I’ll bet it was fun. I love the thump but I like it better when you set the hook and the rod stops, or moving the fish. My heart skips a beat right about then. Congrats on the PB.

Yes that is the handle of the rod on the right. I got him on a John Deer green 2”curly tail grub with a 1/16 plain head. Oh. I did mean to put Fine tail. Not fantail.

That's a fish! I have the Finetail SUL 6'3", too, it's a fantastic rod. I think I might purchase the same exact rod but in the regular ultralight version. I wonder how much more powerful the UL is versus the SUL??
