AGFC news... Improved stump removal process to renovate Lake Conway boat lanes

Why did this problem get addressed during last drawdown ? Seems like it would be easier and less costly ?
Due to new technology they can do it without a draw down and I imagine it was hard to get out there with how swampy it was before

perfect, good to hear. ty AGFC Dist 10
Not easier at all. Very difficult to traverse a swamp and cut stumps. Easier to do it by boat.

Ever thought of stopping at say 3' below normal on a draw down to clear the lanes ?
That would work if the spillway gates were 3 foot tall but they are 6 foot tall. With the current flood gate configuration, there is no good way to maintain a 3 foot drawdown. Thanks for your input though.

Does this mean you trust congress ?
I think both sides on this thread have valid points

For the record, I don’t take offense for suggestions on how something could be done. You never know, someone may think of something that we didn’t and may improve a process. Just in this instance, cutting the stumps at full pool is the best option of maintaining a consistent water level for the contractor. Old stumpy is hard enough to work on (and fish in) with water levels changing.
