balancing reel to 8 ft Acc crappie

I am having trouble picking out reels that balance on 8 foot ACC crappie stix. I have always used Shimano but decided to use Pflueger Presidents. I first bought the smallest one (size 20) and the rod tip instantly fell downward playing around with it. I then bought the next two sizes to try at home (sizes 25 and 30). The 30 is close to balanced but still not perfect. These length rods are new to me. I really planned to have small reels but I am worried about the balance of the small reels. The 30 is bigger than I planned for.

Any suggestions or advice? Thanks.

You may be expecting to have them in your hands longer than me but I used the Shimano 20 series/ACC 9-10 footers and had no issues in 3-4 hours of straight line jigging. Not sure about casting as I do little in that arena. The ACC’s were great but when they were out of stock for an extensive time due to manufacturing delays in China I moved to the B&M Sam Heaton Super Sensitive in 7, 9, and 11 feet. I also migrated to the Presidents XT in the small size and absolutely love the combination. Recently, I added the new B&M TCB in 7 foot and am blown away by the sensitivity, performance and balance. One man’s opinion.

This is one of the reasons I use BPS Micro Lite rods. My 8&9’ rods have screw off butts to balance rod to reel. I use Shimano Sedona 1000 series and add a couple washers on each butt to get the right feel.

I used to take a m/t film canister and put quarters or nickels in it till it was balanced perfect then tape to end of rod butt.. can pretty much use any reel you want within reason.

I am a big fan of the BPS Micro Lite Rods as well. Excellent rods and reasonably priced.

Go to hardware store and buy a couple of rubber chair leg caps that fit rod butt. Then get some flat washers that will fit inside. Do what rbowling said. Install reel of choice and use the washers to balance. Have several bass casting rods I have done this to. Makes a big difference.

I have a couple of B n' M SHSS in 7' & 9' lengths, matched with a #6920 Presidents. No issues here. They cast beautifully.

Thanks for the advice. I have to admit that I was really surprised about the balance issue but this is my first purchase of longer rods such as these.
