I just installed my new Terrova trolling motor last night and I saw this little plug-in. What is this used for? I didn’t order it with the link so I was wondering about this?

Have you installed the foot pedal yet?

If not, there should be a cap with a retainer cord that covers the plug if you just use the remote without the foot pedal connected.

Also, I think I paired the heading sensor with the motor last night but aren’t sure if it worked. How can I tell if they are paired?

When motor is on, the puck will blink every 3 seconds when paired. It's in the manual.
