Which offset seat type/method?

Which offset seat bracket is the best to use? Curved post type, or the plate type? I need my front seat about 6" farther forward, but the storage compartment/lid won't let me move the base plate forward any farther....which leaves my only option being an offset post or plate. Does one tend to swing around more than the other?

I have done both. I liked the post better.less wobble

I use post and works good front or back of boat. Also had Terry from Cumberland crappie make me one that allows me a ten inch set back from plate and can be moved in any direction just like the post. All aluminum and very sturdy. He will make it what ever size you need

I tried the curved post and it kept moving around. I didn’t have it long.

Do you have to do anything to strengthen the base plates when you use off set post/pins?

Just depends on what your originals are mounted to. How much reinforcement is under or around them. If it was me I would try to access area under them and add something if I could. I have seen some older boats with plywood decks where the bases actually ripped out when they got soft because there was nothing on back side of bolts except flat washers.
