Donner 2/2
So, Friday night I went out to Houma and ran my credit card up a bit getting me a new tacklebox for my sac gear, and met with a local guy making sacalait lures. Got some monkey milk and black/blue plastics from him, and decided Sunday I was gonna launch off the side of the road in Donner and give it a good try.
Fast forward to this morning, all I manage to catch are two bass, one of which I got to hand before it slipped off the hook and went back into the briney deep. No sacalait at all, but, Im just happy I caught something.
Being new to this sac thing, Im gonna start getting reel serious about these things before I move up Ruston way next year. Thinking Ill be getting a depth finder (Lowrance or Humminbird, havent decided) and a trolling motor when that income tax hits the account. These fish are putting a spell on me...Attachment 365287

I can tell you this, the fishing up there is a lot of different than here. The water is much deeper than our 6 and 7 foot deep canals and the fish are mostly white crappie which like to hang out in open water or around deep stumps and trees. Not much shore line fishing there.

Its gonna be a fun transition. Im already having to break all the habits I got when I spent years fly fishing in the salt, so its gonna take some time for me to get this freshwater thing down. But so far, its been fun.

Welcome, nothing like catching those sacs.
And they're right, we don't toss jigs and corks much up here.
