Would like to buy used jack plate for my 40hp Honda. Putting it on my Crestliner 1754.
4-6” set back.
Prefer electric but would consider manual.

Still debating if putting a jack plate on my Crestliner 1754 with a Honda 40 is gonna make a difference anyway.
It runs fine as it is. WOT @ 5900-6000 rpms trimmed up around 27-28mph.

Chuck, it’s hard to tell. I put a tilt trim aftermarket set up on my old alumacraft 16 with 40 mariner that didn’t have tilt. It set motor back about 4 inches. The combination of trim and set back made all the difference in the world on that setup. In your case I’d say 4 would be about as far back as I would want to set that motor combination. And if you don’t have one better figure in stainless prop because your going to want to raise motor some for best performance.Quote:

I do have a stainless prop and even a spare.
Not really planning on running much skinny water and didn’t think I would get very much more performance.
Like I said it runs about 27-28 @ 5900-6000 rpms so I pretty sure I’ve got it propped right.
Guess I’m used to going a lot faster
All my other boats were big motor 60+ mph. I’ll just have to learn to slow down and enjoy. Keep forgetting I’m 65. Lol
