Lake Wylie Perch Jerk 1/28/2020
Ron move here from out of state and he asked me to show how to catch perch so his grandson can have some fun with him. Now how can I turn down helping a kid have fun fishing. Showed Ron the kid friendly perch jerk rig. I have not perch jerk in over a year so not know what will happen. Got at ramp 9:30 and as leaving Big A ramp I showed the fish on sonar on the bottom at 20 feet. I said I bet we need to look for perch 20 feet to 30 feet but 25 will be sweet spot.We talked about seasonal movements and where to fish and how to fish them. We got on Charles Biggers perch point "Charles you know the one" and like the other two points we look like no schools just scatter fish on bottom so I said lets fish. We would catch a few move 10 feet find more catch some more. We worked hard on Biggers perch point and kept 25 through back bunch of little ones. We decided to go after crappie hit some piles hit no crappie.
Now we decided we will do some side scan and look for brush and how to do it. After that it was 2:00 so we decided to go back to Biggers point and catch some more perch. Same thing again catching here and there. Ron said he did not want to clean more then we have so we threw some back. We left at 3:15. Charles just like you said on your post perch are scattered but still can catch some.

Ron used minnows and I used red worms that Dawgg told me to try. First time trying worms and they worked great. I like the worms over the minnows easier to work with. Thanks Dawgg for the tip.
