Blind Popeye

It’s a goofy little jig I tied from some leftovers on the tying bench a while back. 1/43 and I think 3 or 4 V’s and some olive thread. No paint on the head and a #8 sickle hook. It was the only thing that they would hit this past Sunday. Keep in mind that I fished four hours and caught one shellcracker before they started getting busy. Here’s the jig and a pic of the better fish. I lost another very similar in size and fight at boat side. Tried to lip him and bumped the jig, you know the rest. Point to all this is; it doesn’t have to look like a jig to be the best of the day. If you think it will work, tie it, try it and find out. I call it blind because it looks kinda like a Popeye but has no eyes.

Nice little thread neck jig

Very cool. Lindy makes a line of little feather jigs called the Lil' Nipper. The jigs have painted heads, though, and have more feathers, which condense a bit when fished. They are about all I've used off our dock this past year as they work very well. I'm tying some variations as they are a touch expensive for what they are made of.

Great experiment Skeetbum. You actually tied a jig with a large tail and no body and the fish loved it. If we show them something they have not seen before it triggers a response from them. Thanks for sharing.

Yes,I use those,and after the fish beat them up they look just like skeetbum's jig Lol,but they work just the same without the eyes.

Been making them for almost 40 years now. They have caught everything for a 50+ muskie....to a 40+ flathead and a ton of crappie in between. I tie 1000's every year.....never leave home without them...
