Ok ive watched and read a ton and still struggling on what to do. I post a pic can someone explain where and why they would start ot on a new lake. I get ledges near drops and shallows. There are a lot of better fisherman on here than me, by far!!! I like to fish along channels which is basically what you have circled. River channels and creek channels are travel routes. When spider rigging, zig zag across the channel and try to establish a depth. Or they can be suspended out on a flat. Look for the bait fish
on your electronics. Just get out there and see what produces.
This time of year find them in the channel and wait on them to get on the flat or move as shallow as the flat in the water column and whack em.
Or let them bury so deep you can't see them on your electronics and whack em that way. That's when you catch them with mud on their bellies.
All of this is for winter fishing.

Depends on season , water color and depth of lake . For most lakes channel drops are good place to look . But some clear deep lakes you might check out flats in they are 20' or more . With all the high water some lakes will see fish scattered till they drop closer to normal .

I checked out some new water this week and idled around for 4 hours checking the channels out. The last hour of my trip I ended up fishing a place that looks like the area circled in red on the upper right side of the map. The place I fished was also a channel swing next to the bank and it sure produced. Plan to go try to expand on the area when this nasty weather passes. You have some good looking spots on that map, have you idled the channel yet? If not you might spend some time doing so to see what the electronics will show you. Could help eliminate some dead water even though it looks fishy.
