Research is key, the adhesive used to bond the keel guard is tough stuff. Type your question into Google and take with a grain of salt. If already peeling back then removal of the guard sounds easy enough, but then you have to clean the surface again. Here's one topic dealing with it and tons more out there, good luck!

I’ve replaced a couple of them. The best method I found was a heat gun and a paint scraper. It takes some time but it will come off. Then you need to clean the residue off with acetone or some other kind of solvent as good as possible.

I manually pulled the remainder off with a 4 wheeler winch. Then used this wheel to get the rest. Lot of work but better than using a chemical. Did a great job with no damage to the boat.
