Perch Jigging Video
It's been a while since I put up a video. But with building a house and that thing we call work, its been harder to get out on the water and edit footage. Here's a video from later in the fall when we ran across some birds diving on a school of perch. Hope yall enjoy!

And yes I know I'm using a striper jigging rod to jig up perch. It was all I had in the boat that day!

What lure do you jig ? I've become a Flexit addict. Lately I've had great success with a 1/2oz. Flexit with green scale sides. I changed out the bare treble hook to a dressed hook and it's made a big difference in strikes.
I've caught several different species on it including several nice cats.
I use a medium action rod with 20# braid and 20# fluorocarbon leader. It's overkill for perch but just yesterday
a 15# cat hit it in 55 FOW so it's a precaution against bigger fish including several Stripers. So your Striper rod makes sense to me.
Great video and neat boat too.

That day I just pulled a blue and silver butterfly jig (3/4-1oz) that we used to use for Spanish offshore. Like you I'd downsized the hooks to a small red treble. After this episode, I now keep a 6.5' M Lightning rod with 15# braid and 12# mono on the boat at all times, just for a jig rod.

I broke one of my favorite Berkley jigging rids, a Bionix which is no longer made.
According to Berkeley, the Lightening Rod is the closest replacement. Guess I'll pick one up soon.
