I have been searching the best for cheap crappie condo's. Best so far is standard 16" blocks, 1\3 bag of quickcrete. and 1-3" bamboo cuttings. Anyone got a better idea for a 1 man job. I know the corp. lakes allow volunteers to drive sticks and the out Christmas trees around the shore. Never seen very much left by the time water gets up enough to fish???? Know a lot of drunks burn all wood found at sardis. Planning on carrying 3 legal drops each trip to the lake.
They'll burn them too. Do you plan on dropping these in deep water where the water will be on them all the time

Xmas trees are actually great habitat for fry and fingerlings. Just the same with bamboo tops. It may not be a productive pile to catch fish on, but it promotes the survival of the species in somewhat barren lakes with little natural structure during draw downs. Some structure is set out with the mindset of future fish as opposed to instant gratification. As far as $4 habitats find a pallet company and call and see what they have to give away. I have a lead if you want to PM me. Also, bamboo is easily available usually. Both require more work then money.

Thanks,for plenty of cane. Pallets good with help U can't handle 3 pallets tied together. Arizona was making massive fish habitat that will last from now on.
I never cared much for Christmas trees either . We use cypress.
Xmas trees fill up with algae and everything else on the bottom of the lake. I like stake beds best. Everything uses them all species of fish. You can take 4 pallets nail them together around a tall tree and it will float for awhile. Fish stack around them. Take 6’ cane tops put them on the shelves of creeks and they stack up on those too. Pallets are everywhere so is cane.
