Sorry the Lake is CLOSED ?

REALLY ? yes sir sorry ,but you can still go to the side of the lake and fish off the bank in spots that will about kill you to walk into if you want :yikes
so what's a fella supposed to do I ask ya ,just say never mind and roll on or walk it and wet said jig ?
its been many moons past since I walked into that spot as you need to be a mountain goat to get back home after you walk in there .
last time I went down that mountain I kept 6 fish on a stringer and to be sure the stringer weighed at least 24 lbs by the time I got to the top of the mountain because you see them fish actually DID grow every uphill step I took :Rofl
I swore I wouldn't walk in there again and to be sure even though I only ketched 2 fish and didn't keep any I swore yet again I wasn't walking back in there EVER again :banghead
man was it wet and slippery and cold going down that trail and of course it was twice that plus some going back up it :Rofl
told me it was the annual duck hunt and as the huge flock of cormorants went by high over my head I said a prayer to the man upstairs about stray t shot hitting some of them purely accidently of course . :biggrin
been tough to get a jig wet lately and I miss ketchn crappie mighty bad , hope to get back after them soon ,but until I do …..

p.s. YES I do believe that's is a big BnM tube jig in the last photo if you must know and yes I custom colored it by giving the tail a touch of chart .

Tough trail to be sure! Wish my legs could take that. Use to love fishing rocky mountain streams for trout too. Can't do much anymore though. Good story!

that there forest has been untouched by mankind other than footsteps from what I hear ,not many places around mankind hasn't touched with more than the old shoe leather .
there are some mighty big old trees down that slope .

brother I must admit this , I wasn't exaggerating about the hike and it isn't something I can do anymore either .
I actually thought coming back up they was gunna find me dead on that trail and I aint kidding about that at all .
so as much as it was a fun adventure and I will miss doing that kind of thing , its really was my last mile down and 5 miles up that trail for sure .

Well, you can’t say you didn’t earn those fish! Laughing. Like you, those days are pretty much over for me as well. I realized that last summer after I slipped and rolled down a steep embankment that I use to be able to get down like a billy goat. One of those deals that after you get up to check for something fractured or a broken rod you look around to see if anyone saw it! Another reason I really want to get the kayak back in action. What did Dirty Harry say “a man has got to know his limits”. I forgot the limits stick is a moving one, and in the wrong direction! LOL

I've found some of the best fishing off spots where you must hike in to fish. But those days are in the past, as many have posted. Thankfully they make pontoons for those of us who need help getting to fishing spots. :)

Here's a tip. When walking through the woods carry your rod aiming behind you. Carrying it aiming forward if you catch the tip on something it is more liable to break.

this was simply a trail head photo my friend , rod tip back with the but under my arm is my normal travel posture .
but to be sure I have still hung a many a brushy item along the way :Rofl
