Ive had some of the Attwood plastic rod holders, the Scotty’s are similar in design. The one pictured also looks similar. They do OK for the money but I found myself fumbling with them to get a rod out a few times. I broke a couple of them also, one on a dock and another when i lost my balance. I went with Hi-Teks and have never looked back. Lots of good options out there, thats just the path I took.
I have 4 of the Scotty's on the tin boat and they do just fine. No knowledge of the Eagle Claw version, but it shouldn't take much to get a bunch of reviews online on your specific brand.
I have looked at online reviews. BUT...those people aren't you guys. I go where my trust lies .

I have two "similar" ones on my glass boat, which were on there when I bought it. But, they don't have any angle adjustment knob, they're fixed at a 45deg angle. I think I used them one time, longline trolling, and didn't have any real problems with them. I do, however, see that they are plastic & more subject to breakage than the Hi-Tek system I now use. I can also see where removal of the rod "could be" a problem ... if rod is under great strain or a quick & easy removal is necessary. But, for longline trolling use, a properly set drag should negate those potential problems. For tightline fishing (straight down while tied or anchored) they should be OK, but may be a bit cumbersome depending on how far away the front of the rod handle is from your seat position & your reach.
